Collaborative Care

We have collaborative care arrangements with several obstetrician and pediatrician groups and three different hospitals. Women choosing out-of-hospital birth should have easy access to medical care when the need arises or if she opts for pain relief during labor.  Fortunately our physicians and hospitals feel the same way. It is our goal to provide our clients the safest care possible and have a welcoming care provider that can care for them and their baby should the need arise to go to the hospital or have higher level care.

Hospital Care

We work closely with Chino Community Hospital (right across the parking lot), Montclair Hospital Medical Center (4.7 miles) and San Dimas Community Hospital (12 miles). All three hospitals are  part of the Prime Healthcare system.

In urgent emergency situations a mother and/or baby would be sent to Chino Community Hospital and either treated and released or treated and transferred to another facility such as Montclair Hospital Medical Center or to the NICU at Pomona Valley Hospital.

Most transfers are not 'emergencies' and can go easily and safely to Montclair or San Dimas.  We've developed relations with Labor & Delivery at both of these hospitals and we call ahead and fax records before the family leaves. The family drives in their car, we go in ours and arrive together. The midwife accompanies you and remains with you until you are settled.  We always try to explain what to expect before we leave so you can mentally prepare.  We're thankful for amazing nursing staff at both hospitals who welcome and  care for our families.

NOTE:  During pandemic support people such as your midwives, friends and family are not being allowed in  to Labor & Delivery but our hospitals and doctor will not separate Mamas and their partner.
